Note: This information is provided as a reference and does not imply that Juniper Systems will provide full support for the use of any specific third-party hardware or software with a Juniper Systems product.

This tutorial has been created to complement the official tutorial for installing the open source GvSig Mobile software. The official tutorial is available at the following link.

http://devel.gvsig.org/download/projects/gvsig-mobile/dists/0.3.0/docs/gvSIG_Mobile_Pilot-0.3-install-man-v1-en.pdf

You should read the official guide first for more complete information. This complementary tutorial will hopefully help you avoid the problems that have often been encountered during the installation of GvSig Mobile and the PhoneMe JVM (Java Virtual Machine) separately. No warranty is expressed or implied with these instructions or the software.

Installation of GvSIG Mobil can be done in three steps. First, you have to install phoneme, a java virtual machine required for running GvSig Mobil. Second, you will install GvSig Mobil. Then you must configure GvSig Mobil and the GPS of your mobile device. During the installation, it may simple to operate your mobile device from your computer using a program such as mymobiler.exe.

Installing the open source gvSIG Mobile software, such as onto our rugged handheld computer products, can be a difficult process. These instructions will hopefully provide a clearer process.

Download and save (do not run) the install files from the following web page.
