Network Logon error message with automatic cellular connection

21 Jul 2010

When connected automatically to a common cellular network on the Mesa Rugged Notepad, a message may often appear as shown in the image below.

There are a couple of ways that this can be repaired. I think the best one is:

Using JSHome:

  1. Press the “Home” button to get to the “Mesa Dashboard” or JSHome.
  2. Press & Hold on the 3G modem gadget. This will bring up the “Connections” menu.
  3. Tap “Automatically configure connection”
  4. Tap “Next”. This will negotiate with the network and reset the connection settings for your 3G modem.
  5. Tap “OK” to exit the dialog.

NOT using JSHome:

  1. Tap on the top bar.
  2. Tap on either the “connection” icon or the “phone with bars” icon.
  3. Tap on “Settings”. This will bring up the “Connections” menu. The remaining steps are the same.
  4. Tap “Automatically configure connection”

Using Getting Started

  1. Tap on “Getting Started” (either from JSHome or from the Start Menu)
  2. Tap on “Set up 3G Modem”. This will launch the automatic connection configurator.
  3. Tap “Next”. This will negotiate with the network and reset the connection settings for your 3G modem.

Tap “OK” to exit the dialog.
