29 Dec 2009

Juniper Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of innovative field computing solutions for rugged applications, announces the new ultra-rugged TK6000 handheld computer. This powerful mobile computer combines the utmost in ruggedness, ease of use, connectivity, and expandability for data acquisition needs in extreme environments. The TK6000 carries on the tradition of the proven quality in Juniper Systems handheld computers exemplified by the Allegro and Archer Field PCs.

The TK6000 is built tough to meet the unique needs of the mobile worker. It features an ergonomic, lightweight magnesium case that withstands multiple 5 foot drops to concrete on all faces, corners and sides. It is waterproof and dustproof (IP67), and operates in extreme cold and hot temperatures. The thin profile, large color coded keys, and highly visible display make the TK6000 easy to use throughout a long work day. When equipped with two batteries, the TK6000 operates for up to 32 hours. Intelligent circuitry in the rechargeable battery informs the user about the battery charge level, and prevents the battery from being overcharged.

The ultra-rugged TK6000 serves enterprise mobility needs running Windows Mobile 6.1 for seamless, secure interface between the field and office. The powerful Windows Mobile operating system runs off-the-shelf mobile applications plus custom applications created using standard development tools. The TK6000 includes Microsoft® Office Mobile applications: Excel Mobile, PowerPoint Mobile, Word Mobile, OneNote Mobile, and Internet Explorer Mobile. The TK6000 is powered by the Marvel PXA270 running at 624MHz with 128 MB RAM and 1 GB of internal data storage. A user accessible microSD/SDHC slot is available for additional data storage.

The TK6000 offers a wide range of connectivity to computers and peripheral devices. The TK6000 is equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth® wireless technology. The optional 2.5G GSM cellular data modem expansion pack allows remote connection to and from the field via cellular communications. Two RS-232 9 pin serial ports, a full size USB host, and mini USB client enable direct connection to sensors, computers, and data storage devices.

The innovative TK6000 expansion pack adds functionality without compromising ruggedness. Simply attach the pack to integrate specialized sensors or communication devices. The expansion pack can be customized to house special signal conditioning circuitry, communications circuitry, and sensor interfaces to meet specific market needs.

The TK6000 is an ideal mobile platform for OEM providers. Quickly bring OEM solutions to market with our robust business partner program. Customization options range from brand identity to full integration of electronics and sensors. Juniper Systems works closely with business partners to enable solutions large or small.
