Android Recovery Mode is a bootable partition that operates independently from the main Android operating system and can be used for troubleshooting and maintaining your Android device.

In Android Recovery Mode, you can

  • Reboot the system
  • Wipe data and restore factory settings
  • Wipe the cache partition (temporary system files that may be causing issues)
  • View recovery logs
  • Install updates stored on an external SD card
  • Allow the installation of software updates via Android Debug Bridge (ADB).

CAUTION: Using Android Recovery Mode may delete data and apps. Back up your device before you begin.

To enter Android Recovery Mode,

  1. Power off your Android device.
  2. Press and hold the Power, Volume Up, and Volume Down keys until you see the Android logo with red triangle. Then, release all keys.
  3. Press and hold the Power key. Quickly press the Volume Up key.

The device should now be in Android Recovery Mode.
