The Archer Field PC won the prestigious Intel Technology Innovation Accelerated (TIA) Award for the Mobility Category.
San Francisco, CA - March 9, 2006 - Juniper Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of ultra-rugged handheld field computers announced today that its Archer Field PC won the prestigious Intel Technology Innovation Accelerated (TIA) Award for the Mobility Category. The Intel TIA award is presented each year at the semi- annual Intel Developers Forum (IDF) to recognize technological advancements and innovation while building off of the new Intel platform strategy.
Weighing only 17 ounces, the rock solid Archer runs Microsoft Windows Mobile version 5.0, powered by the Intel XScale 520Mhz processor. The durability and compact size of the Archer make it the first choice for those in need of a pocket-sized Field PC for use in harsh applications.
Eighteen demos - three in each of the six categories (Mobility, Data Center, Digital Office, Technology, Research, and Storage) - vied as finalists for the awards, which recognize the technological pioneering and adoption of the Intel platform strategy. According to Intel, the Archer was selected due to its "clever design" and "ability to survive full emersion in water and a rough drop test."
"Winning this prestigious award is an honor for Juniper Systems, Inc. and a tribute to our Archer development team," says Robert Campbell, Chief Operating Officer for Juniper Systems, Inc. "Between our own innovation and relationships with such highly regarded organizations as Intel, Juniper Systems, Inc. continues to be on the leading edge of mobile, rugged technology."
All non-Intel exhibitors and sponsors of IDF were eligible. The 45 entries more than doubled the number from the awards debut at IDF last August. Judging the finalists were hundreds of journalists and analysts covering the three-day technical conference.
