Legacy Products: Recommendations, Service Options

Legacy Products are no longer produced by Juniper Systems, Inc. In some cases, new or used units are available. A brief description is given below along with information on service options and recommendations for replacement products. Contact our Technical Support Department if you have service questions or our Sales Department with questions about replacement products.

RUGGED FIELD COMPUTERS

Allegro DOS Field PC

  • The Allegro DOS was introduced in 2004 to provide a continued solution for legacy DOS software application users and for customers in the process of moving to Windows CE/Mobile.
  • Purchase Availability: The Allegro DOS is no longer being produced (due to end of life on critical parts), but some used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Newer Field PC model running PocketDOS emulator software (testing of third-party DOS software in PocketDOS is required before purchase), or upgrading your DOS software to be compatible with Windows Mobile.
  • Service Availability: This product is still fully supported and serviceable (as parts are available) by Juniper Systems, Inc.

Allegro CE Field PC

  • The Allegro CE was introduced in 2002 as our first Windows CE-only rugged handheld using the mobile computer industry standard StrongArm processor. This allowed the accelerated integration of the Allegro into many markets including land survey, meter reading, and others.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced. Used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro CX Field PC, Allegro MX Field PC, or Archer Field PC.
  • Service Availability: This product is still fully supported and serviceable by Juniper Systems, Inc.

Allegro CE/DOS Field PC

  • The Allegro CE/DOS was introduced in 2000 as the next-generation field computer for Juniper Systems. The dual operating system made it a bridge from DOS to Windows CE applications.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced. Used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro CX Field PC, Allegro MX Field PC, or Archer Field PC (running PocketDOS emulator or newer Windows CE/Mobile version of software).
  • Service Availability: This product is still fully supported and serviceable by Juniper Systems, Inc.

Pro4000 FieldBook

  • The Pro4000 was introduced in 1998 as a high performance replacement of the Pro2000. It has a DOS operating system and measures about 10 inches long x 4 inches wide.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced. Used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro CX Field PC, Allegro MX Field PC, or Archer Field PC (running PocketDOS emulator or newer Windows CE/Mobile version of software).
  • Service Availability: This product is still serviceable (as parts are available) by Juniper Systems, Inc.

Pro2000 FieldBook

  • HarvestMaster began production of the Pro2000 in 1996 as an improvement to the Omnidata HM-286 FieldBook (see a complete list of 286 names below). The Pro2000 has a DOS operating system and measures about 10 inches long x 4 inches wide.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced. Used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro CX Field PC, Allegro MX Field PC, or Archer Field PC (running PocketDOS emulator or newer Windows CE/Mobile version of software).
  • Service Availability: No longer serviceable as of August 31, 2006.

HarvestMaster HM-286 FieldBook/ Omnidata 286LX Polycorder , 286LE Polycorder, PC2600 Polycorder

  • Originally produced by Omnidata International, Inc. The configuration on the variously named models were basically the same. They had a DOS operating system and measured about 10 inches long x 4 inches wide.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro CX Field PC, Allegro MX Field PC, or Archer Field PC (running PocketDOS emulator or newer Windows CE/Mobile version of software).
  • Service Availability: No longer serviceable.

HarvestMaster HM-1 FieldBook/ Juniper Systems JS 600 FieldBook/ Omnidata 600 Series Polycorder

  • Originally produced by Omnidata International, Inc. The configuration on the variously named models were basically the same. They had a proprietary operating system and measure about 7 inches long, 3 inches wide.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced. Used units may be available.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro Field PC or Archer Field PC.
  • Service Availability: No longer serviceable at Juniper Systems, Inc. as of January 1, 2009. Limited phone support is available through 2009.

HarvestMaster HM-2 FieldBook/Juniper Systems JS 700 FieldBook/ Omnidata 700 Series Polycorder

  • Originally produced by Omnidata International, Inc. Often sold as part of the HM-300 Harvest Data System. The configuration on the variously named models were basically the same. They had a proprietary operating system and measured about 7 inches long, 3 inches wide.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: Allegro Field PC or Archer Field PC.
  • Service Availability: No longer serviceable.

LandMark GPS DOS Package

  • A GPS platform that included a DOS-based field computer (Pro2000, Pro4000, or Allegro CE/DOS), a receiver, LandMark GPS software, and a backpack for the receiver, batteries, and antenna.
  • Purchase Availability: Some components are still available.
  • Recommended Alternate Purchase: We have several Mobile GPS and GIS options available, including a newer Windows CE and Windows Mobile version of the LandMark GPS software. Our sales staff can help you put together the best system for your application, including software, a receiver, a rugged field computer, and other accessories.
  • Service Availability: If you have a LandMark GPS DOS Package, most of the components are still serviceable, either by Juniper Systems or Trimble Navigation (receivers).

HARVESTMASTER PRODUCT LINE

HM-400 Harvest Data System

  • The HM-400 Harvest Data System consisted of the HM-401 CCU; HM-420 Breakout Filter Box; control cable; sometimes a High Capacity, HM-1000 GrainGage, or just separate capacitive weight and moisture sensors for installation into a regular bucket; an Allegro CX, DOS Field PC, or Pro4000 Fieldbook.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: HM800 Harvest Data System.
  • Service Availability: Fully supported and serviceable at Juniper Systems repair center.
  • Recommended Service Option: If you have an Allegro CX Field PC, we recommend that you purchase the appropriate new version of Field Research Software (FRS).

HM-500 and HM-570 Yield and Load Monitor Systems

  • The Yield and Load Monitor systems provided harvest yield data for bulk crops such as potatoes, sugar beets, tomatoes, carrots, onions, grapes, and sugar cane. The system consisted of the HM-500 or HM-570 CCU; an Allegro Field PC, Pro4000, or Pro2000 Fieldbook; Trimble AgGPS 114, 132, or a ground speed sensor; a belt speed sensor; and a load cell or profile sensor.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: No recommendation available.
  • Service Availability: Limited repair service available depending on part availability.
  • Recommended Service Option: No updates available.

HM-300 Harvest Data System

  • Harvest Data System consisted of the HM-301 CCU, HM-2 FieldBook, HM-320 Breakout Filter Box, control cable, and a single or set of regular plot bucket(s) with weight and/or moisture sensors.
  • Purchase Availability: No longer produced.
  • Recommended Alternative Purchase: HM-1000 Graingage or HM-400 Harvest Data System with an Allegro CE/DOS Field PC.
  • Service Availability: The HM-301 CCU, HM-2 FieldBook, HM-320 Breakout Filter Box, and black control cable are no longer serviceable. Other components may still be updated or serviced at Juniper Systems, Inc..
  • Recommended Service Option: Upgrade to a HM-401 Harvest Data System by replacing the HM-301 CCU with a HM-401 SCCU, converting the HM-2 FieldBook to an HM-1 FieldBook, replacing the black control cable with an updated white control cable, and replacing the HM-320 Breakout Filter Box with the HM-420 Breakout Filter Box.
